Problem
Previous upright design exceeded mass targets by 180g per corner and lacked serviceability for brake bleeding during competition.
Approach
Topology-optimized aluminum upright designed in SolidWorks, validated with FEA for 2.5g lateral load case. CNC machined from 7075-T6 with hard anodizing.
Outcome
Reduced mass by 22% per corner while passing scrutineering. Team finished top-10 in design event at competition.
